FAQ

Online Therapy involves meeting face-to-face with a licensed mental health counselor or licensed mental health counselor associate using an electronic device such as a computer, smart phone, or tablet through our secure, HIPAA compliant portal. You and your therapist will be able to hear and see each other in real time as if you were having a conversation in the same room. Along with talk therapy, EMDR and ART are also available over teletherapy!

Particularly during quarantine, we experienced how seamless, efficient, and effective online therapy is. We truly believe this option will be utilized more and more going forward as people realize its convenience, flexibility, and benefit while at home, work, or school (anywhere one can find a private space!). The same relationship building, skill teaching, interventions, and counseling work can be done in teletherapy.

Research shows teletherapy is just as effective as in-person therapy. Several of our therapists are also Board Certified in TeleMental Health. We have a special focus on understanding the therapeutic relationship in the context of telemental health. We make sure our clients are at ease (even through internet glitches!) and that therapy goals are being met.

We can see you in person if you’re in the Charlotte, NC area, and via telehealth (with certain clinicians) in SC, TX, TN, VA, LA, MI, and NY. Not sure if your state is covered? Just ask.

We therapists have very thoughtfully and intentionally chosen to be out of network with insurance companies. This allows us to avoid your insurance company’s involvement in your treatment (i.e. mandating a maximum amount of sessions, requiring we continually show them your treatment plan, rejecting certain treatment or diagnoses, etc.). We want to provide 100% confidential treatment with competitive pricing options. We want you to feel empowered to choose your provider, treatment length and approach, and not have insurance companies interfere with your unique goals and needs. And we want to be able to get creative with your treatment with evidence-based support that is sometimes not covered by insurance. Lastly, we prioritize spending our time beyond the 50 min session – between your sessions- conceptualizing your case, researching, and collaborating with other providers involved in your care.
