Behavioral Support Services
At Sun Counseling & Wellness, we’re proud to offer behavioral support services for individuals of all ages with Britt Rogers, BCBA, LBA. Britt specializes in evidence-based interventions that empower individuals and families to build skills, increase independence, and thrive in daily life.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Interventions
ABA is an evidence-based approach to understanding and increasing socially significant behavior. Britt uses positive reinforcement and practical strategies to help clients learn new skills and reduce behaviors that may interfere with daily life.
Example: A child who previously used tantrums to get what they want can learn to use functional communication, such as words or gestures, to express their needs. Over time, these skills become habits, fostering autonomy and building confidence.
Functional Behavior Assessments & Behavior Support Plans
By identifying the “why” behind behaviors, Britt develops tailored support plans to promote healthier, more effective ways of coping and communicating.
Example: If a teen frequently has missing assignments or procrastinates before a big test, Britt might discover the behavior happens when assignments feel overwhelming. Together, they create strategies such as breaking tasks into smaller steps, using timers, and teaching self-advocacy skills to ask for help without shutting down.
Executive Functioning Skills
Struggles with organization, time management, or emotional regulation can affect children, teens, and adults alike. Britt helps clients strengthen these core skills to improve independence, school performance, and everyday success.
Example: A middle school student might work with Britt to create a visual schedule and practice routines for packing their backpack each night and turning in homework on time. For adults, this might mean developing strategies to manage deadlines, stay organized, and approach difficult tasks step by step.
Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT)
ACT emphasizes mindfulness and values-based living. Britt guides clients to build psychological flexibility, make choices aligned with what matters most, and handle life’s challenges with resilience.
Example: A college student struggling with anxiety might learn mindfulness techniques to stay grounded and identify personal values such as education and relationships. Together, they create small, meaningful steps, like attending one class at a time, even when anxious thoughts arise.
Early Intervention
Britt provides compassionate, individualized support for young children and their families, focusing on developmental milestones and setting a foundation for continued growth.
Example: During play-based sessions, Britt might help a toddler build communication skills by teaching them to request a favorite toy using words, signs, or pictures. Parents are coached to use these same strategies to promote consistent learning.
Parent/Caregiver Training and Consultation
Parents and caregivers play a vital role in supporting their child’s progress. Britt equips families with practical tools, coaching, and encouragement to create consistent, supportive environments at home and in the community.
Example: Britt may guide parents on how to respond to tantrums based on the “why” behind the behavior, introduce routines that make transitions smoother, or set up home visuals and daily schedules to reduce stress for everyone.
