Pronouns: she/her/hers
Blue hair, don’t care! An avid Duke fan, once I added the blue streak to my hair in 2015 during the NCAA tournament, there was no turning back! While I grew up a Blue Devil and still bleed blue, I earned my undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University (Go Deacs!) and my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC-Greensboro.
I hold the following licensures/credentials:
- National Board Certified Counselor
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York
- Professional Counselor Telehealth Provider in South Carolina
- Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider
First of all, I am incredibly proud of our consortium of providers here at SCW. I trust each clinician 1000% and believe each provider is such an asset and brings incredible gifts to the community and to each client they serve.
I am committed to building a relationship with you in order to navigate your story. My counseling style is conversational and direct, balanced with genuine care in order to collaborate with you and assist you in getting closer to your goals. We tend to laugh a lot in session while we’re getting sh*t done 🙂 Counseling goals may include changing your thinking, improving your mood, achieving balance, restoring relationships, reaching recovery, developing new skills, healing traumas, or finding ways to live wholly and genuinely.
I have fifteen years of experience working with individuals (adolescents, teens, and adults), couples, families, and groups. My hope is for you to experience authentic connection and laughter in your life and for you to realize your worth and reach your potential individually and within your relationships! Amongst other modalities and counseling theories, I use EMDR as a primary intervention as appropriate. Along with using it in individual sessions, I also offer EMDR intensives. Intensives can also incorporate somatic release practices, CBT, DBT, ACT, and more. Learn more about intensives here.
I am currently in a 3-year training program for Somatic Experiencing (SE) and utilize a lot of these techniques with my clients. Per Somatic Experiencing International, SE aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies. I am also one of a handful of providers in NC trained in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE). It is a parent-only therapy for parents of children and teens with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep issues, and phobias. I received my training through Yale University. (NOTE:*I am not currently taking any SPACE clients*)
My dedication to serving shows up in frequent contributions as a mental wellness expert. I am a global keynote speaker. You’ll find my freelance writing with my byline in Southpark Magazine. I also frequently appear on WCNC and WBTV. I have also been featured on Global News and in Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, Insider, Parade, PsychCentral, Axios, Medium/Elemental, & Shondaland. I also recently published my first book entitled Who You Callin’ Crazy?!: The Journey From Stigma To Therapy. I am passionate about showing up wherever I can to help normalize and elevate the dialogue around mental health!
I have an awesome husband who loves corny dad jokes and triathlons. We have two super fun and spunky tween daughters and a dog named Parmesan. I love to sing (especially a cappella!), play the piano, cycle, go to plays and new restaurants, travel globally, support organizations that fight social injustice and systemic racism, and watch sports (college basketball and golf — a given, since I’m from Pinehurst!)
I’m also surrounded by amazing friends, including Joe Martinez (of Joe Martinez Photography) who is ridiculously talented and so graciously allowed me to use his work throughout this website!

I wanted to bring together the cream of the crop clinicians to serve people who just want to feel better. I wanted to create a unique kind of practice that treats the whole person. Our culture is apparent from the moment you walk in the door.
Cancellations/No-shows with less than 48-hours notice will be charged the FULL session fee. Every client gets one freebie in a year.
If you need to cancel an appointment you can do so manually by signing into your Client Portal. You can also contact me or our admin via email, phone, or Client Portal secure messaging. Any appointments that are canceled or rescheduled with 48 hours (or more) of advance notice will not be subject to additional fees.
Example: if your appointment is scheduled for 4pm on a Wednesday and you need to cancel or reschedule, you must do so before 4pm Monday to avoid additional fees.
As therapists, human connection and empathy are the core of the work we do and we understand being charged a fee when you are not able to attend appointments may bring up difficult emotions. Please know that charging these fees is difficult for most therapists.
In order to keep our business sustainable, we need to keep our schedules full and collect payment for our work. Our hourly sessions operate similarly to the seats on an airplane. They are limited, in demand, and once that plane has taken off, that seat can’t be resold. Therefore, we’re committed to reminding everyone of our cancellation policy, as we want to continue to provide high-quality services AND pay our team reasonable wages.
Please understand when you are unable to provide more than 48 hours’ notice for missing an appointment, being charged for the appointment is not intended to be punitive and should not be interpreted to convey any emotions on our end. It is purely a necessary mechanism to keep this small private practice viable. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your therapist directly.
We love the work we do and we’re honored that you’ve chosen to work with us.
EMDR is hard to explain and understand, but having done it as a client and now as a clinician for many years, Juliet is a firm believer in its benefits! She likes to say that it’s like a system update for your brain — to send any negative memories/thoughts/sensations that are stuck to where they belong. It doesn’t erase memories or traumas, but it decreases their intensity and resolves negative beliefs by replacing them with more positive and adaptive ones. Clients will feel distress relief, healing, reduced physiological symptoms, and empowerment. EMDR is proven to help with grief & loss, abuse, traumas, phobias, low self-esteem, attachment issues, family disruptions, upsetting memories, PTSD, and food issues. Juliet, Jackie, and Andrea are trained in EMDR. Find more info here.
A Therapy Intensive is an accelerated form of therapy designed to help clients go deeper and get results faster. It’s a cutting-edge approach to help people feel better faster. If you have a specific topic, trauma, or stressor that you want support with – this can be the focus of your Therapy Intensive. The dedicated time will be customized specifically to you and your goals. Therapy Intensives work very well as an adjunct therapy alongside your continued work with your current therapist. Intensives can be done in person at our office in Charlotte, NC or online throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and New York.

- Am I truly depleted and too busy today or am I avoid talking about something hard?
- What would make today’s session worth it, if I left with just one takeaway?
- Could I benefit from even just a shorter lesson or switching to telehealth rather than totally cancelling?
- If I skip this session, will I lose momentum and will it be harder to return?
- What topic am I most avoidant of talking about and what’s one sentence I could start with?
- If not therapy today, what’s my plan for support (journaling, practicing skills I’ve learned, calling a friend, etc.) and is that enough?
- Favorite musicals: Come From Away and Six!
- Favorite bands: Mumford & Sons, DMB, Aerosmith
