Hailey Knox, Intern
Hello everyone, I’m Hailey and am currently serving as Sun Counseling’s Intern! I am pursuing my Master’s Degree at UNC Charlotte for Clinical Mental Health Counseling and will graduate in May to officially gain the letters LCMHCA after my name! My undergraduate education was also completed at UNC Charlotte where I studied Psychology and found my passion for Counseling.
My interests include working with clients struggling with eating disorders, body image issues, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, life transition, and relationship struggles. I enjoy working with clients of all ages but have a particular interest in working with the college aged and young adult populations. Growing up a competitive swimmer and knowing the challenges that come along with the pressure of being an athlete as well as the transition out of being an athlete, I hold a special interest in working with this population, as well.
I came to find my passion for counseling through my own mental health journey and desire greatly to help you with yours. Having been in your seat I understand the fear of what this process might bring about and am committed to listening and walking with you in this process. I am dedicated to building a relationship with you that constructs trust and a better understanding of your story along the way. In processing your experiences you will learn new ways to cope, how to challenge negative thoughts, find a place of stabilization in recovery, create balance in a life you feel fulfilled in, and learn to live fully.
When I am not in class or studying, I am most likely working or spending time with loved ones. I help two amazing families, watching their 3 kiddos and absolutely love the time I get to spend with them. I also enjoy staying active and although I grew up a swimmer, I like to say COVID brought me my love of running and being outside. I am always on the go and enjoy spending time with friends, family and my boyfriend, Micah. I am a true lover of vanilla scented candles, ice cream, journaling/writing, a good cup of coffee and serving/helping others. You will always find fresh flowers in my apartment; my favorite bouquets are from the local farmers market. This is a special form of self-care that holds an underlying reminder of just how beautiful growth can be.
