Carrie Torn, Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, MSW, LCSW

You feel as though something is weighing you down, yet you can’t quite pinpoint what it is.

You look like you have it all together from the outside, but you aren’t satisfied with your relationships and know there is more to life. You long to feel seen, heard, and understood.

I work with people who are tired of keeping it all together and holding things in because they’re fed up with putting others before themselves and are ready to step into who they truly are.

Through an approach that integrates mind, body, and emotions, I specialize in treating high achieving and sensitive individuals, breaking the cycle of depression, anxiety, burnout, and addressing work-life imbalances.

Together, we will create space for you to get in touch with yourself and your needs. In working with me, people find themselves having the confidence to make decisions that align with their values and lead to the desired change.

My Story

I’m Carrie and I’m a 9 on the enneagram (the peacemaker – go figure!).

My own journey has taken many forms over the years – from travel to formal meditation, journaling, retreats, numerous training and certifications in yoga and psychotherapy – all of which have led me to deepen my passion for guiding others. Yoga has helped me connect to the mind-body connection in a profound way and I’m passionate about passing along these teachings to others and incorporating yoga into my therapeutic work.

I encourage growth, self-discovery, and healing through the practices of talk-therapy, EMDR, self-compassion, and values of work, mindfulness, and yoga. It is my deepest belief that we all have the innate capacity for healing, growth, and living a meaningful life. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my Master’s of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. As a North Carolina native, I am happy to be back in my home state.

I’m also bilingual in Spanish after living in Central and South America and I love speaking Spanglish with clients! I’m fortunate to have had international work experience in Latin America and have also extensively traveled abroad. On weekends, you’ll find me practicing yoga, being outdoors, and trying new food.
